The Classic Maine Coon
The CLASSIC pattern is a pattern of swirls that often forms a sort of Bulls-eye pattern on the sides of the body. In other breeds this is commonly referred to as a Marbled pattern. This pattern is quite obvious when a kitten is first born, but as the hair grows longer it is more difficult to see and can sometimes look very similar to a SOLID pattern. The difference between this and a solid is most obvious in the face since the face of a Solid often doesn't have pattern on it and the face of a Classic will have goggles around the eyes.
(Black) Brown Classic:
The Brown (not to be confused with chocolate) is a very beautiful color with many variations in the shades of brown from very dark to light and sometimes with slightly warmer orange hues. Below are some pictures of BROWN CLASSIC MAINE COONS

(Black) Brown Classic with White:
Sometimes Brown Classic kittens are born with adorable White feet & Chest, but the white can be anywhere on the body depending on which White gene they carry. Breeders call this color Brown Classic with White.

(Black) Brown Classic Torbie:
Sometimes a Brown Classic is born with an extra gene called the sex-linked Red gene. This Red gene causes orange patches of fur to develop on the coat in random areas that are unpredictable. Breeders call this color Brown Classic Torbie. This ONLY occurs in FEMALE kittens. The CLASSIC pattern is still visible.

Sometimes a Brown Classic Torbie kitten is born with an adorable set of white gloved feet, white chest, chin, etc.... the amount of white will depend on which White gene the kitten carries. (There are a few different white genes).

(Black) Silver Classic aka Silver Classic:
Sometimes a kitten that would be a Brown Classic inherits one copy of a gene called the "inhibitor gene" aka "silver gene" from a parent. This silver gene changes the coat color of the brown to SILVER thus creating the Silver Classic Maine Coon. They are absolutely beautiful cats. Since the Silver gene always gives a cat a white undercoat, the white hairs peek out of the black hairs when the cat moves and gives a very showy appearance.
